May Update:

We are waiting for the Federal Rail Administration to deliver the link level data for 2016 so that Line Haul and Class 2/3 rail can begin. One on one meetings were held with Class 1 railroads to collect yard activity. There will be a state comment period after the data is collected from the railroads although we would ask states not to over-ride company data since it is likely the most accurate representation of yard activity.

June Update:

FRA delivered the link level activity data for 2016. Line haul calculations are progressing quickly. We are planning on have a state outreach on class 2/3 rail in June and July. The draft inventory and comment period will be discussed on the meeting on June 21st. This will also include updates for commuter rail where link level activity will be accepted. We hope to have fuel use data for the non-electric commuter lines listed in the spreadsheet here. We expect to have draft 2016 estimates in September and draft 2017 estimates in October.

Action Items

Integrate comments from Class 1 railroads for yards. Fill in where no comments were received. Have a short comment period for states to updated data(July/August)

Calculate Class 1 Line Haul.

Calculate Class 2 and 3(commuter) estimates Have Comment period for states to add fuel use and link level activity
