This Wiki contains documentation for the Western Air Quality Study - Intermountain West Data Warehouse (IWDW-WAQS) Project. Additional Project information can be found on the IWDW website About page.

The WAQS conducts meteorology, emissions, and air quality modeling to facilitate air resource analyses for federal and state agencies, and to provide up-to-date modeling platforms for the air quality research community. The wiki provides descriptions of WAQS developed photochemical grid model (PGM) platforms, model sensitivity analyses and source apportionment modeling. The wiki entries contain additional descriptions and graphics that supplement 3SAQS/WAQS technical reports.

WRAP-WAQS 2014 Modeling Platform

The WAQS is currently developing a PGM modeling platform for the 2014 Base Year. The IWDW currently has data for 2014 WRF for WAQS and EPA simulations; EPA's 2014 GEOS-Chem modeling results; WRAP 2014 Oil and Gas Basin emissions inventories, and EPA's 2014 NEIv2 modeling platform emissions inventories. Additional emissions inputs and air quality modeling results for the Shakeout modeling round are under development.

Development Team

National Emissions Collaborative (NEC)

States, tribes, multi-jurisdictional organizations (MJOs), and EPA collaborate and work together as peers to develop national Emissions Modeling Platforms (EMPs). In 2018-2020 the NEC built a 2016-based EMP, including future year projections of 2023 and 2028. Starting in 2023, the NEC began work on a 2022-based EMP, including future year projections of 2026, 2032, and 2038.

Oil & Gas Information Repository

The OGEC Information Repository contains information on Oil & Gas exploration, production, and emissions. The National Oil & Gas Emissions Committee meets periodically to discuss topics related to emissions monitoring, calculation methodologies, and development of EPA's triennial National Emissions Inventory. Committee membership spans state, local, tribal and federal agencies across the nation.
