- WRF evaluation tech memo still a work in progress; will be available soon
- BEIS3 tech memo (Vukovich) almost ready for workgroup to examine
- CARB provide MEGAN comparison time series plots to the work group
- QA steps were received from TCEQ and USEPA
- Soil/fertilization NOx investigation added to the workgroup charge document
- Vukovich gave an update on the BEIS3 model QA and documentation
- Boyer (TCEQ) provided an update on MEGANv3: processed for specific days in July 2016 (July 17-19)
- TCEQ mentioned that other days in 2016 could be examined
- EPA provided BEIS3 output for these days as well
- TCEQ and CARB have had some contact with Alex Guenther (author of MEGAN)
- TCEQ found that nitric oxide emissions were = 0 in MEGANv3
- PhD student is working on new soil NOx WRF-CHEM-MEGAN version
- Then will move this algorithm to MEGANv3 as well
- Timing of this new soil NOx algorithm being available in MEGANv3 unknown
- MEGANv3 may only have been evaluated in Texas region due to funding limitations
- Discussion regarding concerns about MEGANv3 (pretty early version); Soil NOx algorithm issues
- TCEQ listed some options with MEGANv3
- options run MEGANv3 not use soil NOx, use MEGANv3 + BEIS NO
- Run MEGANv2.1 for another option since MEGANv3 status unknown
- Group mentioned that biogenic emissions modeling evaluations include running the AQ model
- Discussion on landuse improvements; Pima Co can provide updated landuse data maybe this summer
- Tom Moore wanted to know if there are possible eco-region landuse improvements available
- Discussion about number of landuse types in BEIS3 and MEGANv3 and how to map them to landuse datasets
Action Items
- Action Item: Vukovich to assemble list of QA steps into document and provide to workgroup for further examination/edits
- Action Item: WRF evaluation tech memo will be forwarded to workgroup when it becomes available (USEPA)
- Action Item: BEIS3 tech memo and BEIS3 input data to be shared with workgroup (USEPA)
- Action Item: Workgroup to provide a list of days/weeks that we should focus on where perhaps elevated ozone occurred in your region
- Action Item: Jeremy to ask Alex Guenther about our timeline; MEGANv3 updates (soil NOx only update?)
- Action Item: CARB and TCEQ to investigate if they can run MEGANv2.1 (USEPA may be backup plan)
- Action Item: Jeff to ask AQMG about air quality modeling plans for year 2016
- Action Item: Vukovich to ask EPA ORD about eco-region updates or any other possible upcoming landuse updates
- Action Item: CARB to try track down the MEGAN mapping to BEIS3 landuse paper (TX A&M)
